21. Cooperation agreement with the world’s largest cement industry

When Rudolf Haver, Managing Partner of the third generation, was approached daily by the Chinese dialog partners during a delegation trip of the Federation of German Industries in March 1985 about cooperation and building up a program in China, this underpinned the desire to get the construction of machines in China off the ground.

Although there had already been numerous inquiries from the Chinese cement industry, no order had ever been placed despite all efforts.

By participating in the first Chinese Cement Symposium in May 1985 in Beijing with a presentation, Haver & Boecker gained further good contacts to the leading project planning institutes in the Chinese cement industry as well as to the leading experts of the responsible Chinese ministries and authorities. Nevertheless, it gradually became clearer and clearer that the world’s largest cement industry was only interested in creating the conditions for the production of packing machines in its own country due to the large demand for machines.

In order to participate in the cement business in China at all, the only chance for Haver & Boecker was to conclude a cooperation agreement that left open the possibility of supplying important machine components and ROTO-PACKER lines to the Chinese cement industry until production was started by the Chinese. After more than 10 weeks of technical and commercial negotiations, a 160-page contract was drawn up and signed in December 1986.

Today, Haver & Boecker has its own production facility in China, HAVER Technologies Tianjin.
