With obvious success – as this resulted in numerous trips to Poland to inspect the existing plants and then make suggestions for modernization or expansion. During these business trips, Sales Director Wolfgang Haschke observed that the security of the car with the luggage was a particular priority at every car stop. The hotels were also carefully chosen with this security aspect in mind.
It was also noticeable that in many cement and lime works the radio telephone carried by Haver employees was eagerly awaited in order to make urgent calls to the West.
The employees from Oelde were also surprised that the potential customers expressed the wish that the Haver & Boecker representative in Poland should not be present at the technical discussions. The fear that information would be passed on to the competition via this channel was too great.
The Haver & Boecker employees also had to get used to the fact that vodka was often drunk in the mornings to fortify themselves during customer meetings.
