He was able to give us an excellent introduction to the building material manufacturers there – perhaps also due to the fact that he was consul for the whole of Norway in his “second job”.
When we negotiated with Mr. Werenskiold – who impressed us with his Viking figure – about succeeding Mr. Konow, we wanted to contractually stipulate that he would visit all old customers at least twice a year. Mr. Werenskiold looked at us in disbelief and fetched a map of Norway and a ruler to show us how big the country is. In fact, the length of Norway from the South to the North Cape corresponds to the distance from Westphalia to Sicily.
Haver & Boecker has worked successfully with Mr. Werenskiold for many years – albeit without this clause in the contract. He was always welcomed as follows at the representatives’ meetings: “From Norway came rolling in – the honorable Werenskiold”.
