After a successful day’s work, the two found a beautifully situated fish restaurant on a crowded beach. Rudolf Haver cheerfully opted for the fish selection. Of course, there had to be a suitable wine to go with it. When he tried to order wine, though, the waiter regretfully told him that he couldn’t serve it because the restaurant wasn’t “fully licensed”. Wolfgang Haschke was then humorously instructed to somehow procure a dry white wine within the next 30 minutes. Wolfgang Haschke turned to the proprietor, who was quite familiar with such evasive maneuvers. He got him a cab to take him to a kind of kiosk where there was a large selection of wines. The evening was saved.
Today, Haver & Boecker has an office in Perth, around 4,000 kilometers from Sydney.
