The cement plants became larger, the demands on the filling technology ever higher.
Gustav Krogbeumker, Managing Director of the Phoenix cement factory in neighboring Beckum, had seen a round packer on his travels abroad, which the Danish company F.L. Smidth had developed.
He enthusiastically told his friend and bowling brother Rudolf Haver, the third-generation managing partner of Haver & Boecker, about it and explained to him that he was considering buying such a round packer. “With your BBV packers, we won’t be able to achieve the performance,” he declared, justifying his intention. Rudolf Haver was shocked. If a friend is already prepared to switch to the competition, what will the other customers do?
Rudolf Haver realized that he had to act in order to maintain his market. Fortunately, he had hired Paul Schwake, an experienced engineer, shortly beforehand. He was entrusted with the task of developing a round packer as quickly as possible. Phoenix agreed to wait for this development. This was the birth of Haver & Boecker’s most successful filling machine to date, the ROTO-PACKER®.
